TICKETS GO ON GENERAL SALE THIS FRIDAY AT 9AM
FOLLOWS UK TOP 5 HIT SINGLE ‘CAKE BY THE OCEAN’ WHICH WAS #1 IN THE UK AIRPLAY CHART FOR 4 WEEKS RUNNING AND HAS BEEN STREAMED OVER 220 MILLION TIMES WORLDWIDE
DNCE – the platinum selling four-piece band made up of Joe Jonas, Cole Whittle, JinJoo and Jack Lawless – have announced a headline show at London’s O2 Islington Academy on Friday 19th August. Tickets are on general sale starting at 9am this Friday 20th May at www.gigsandtours.com.
Formed in the summer of 2015, DNCE first introduced themselves to audiences worldwide with the release of their debut single “Cake By The Ocean”, the breakout smash is now platinum in the US and has made them one of 2016’s most buzz-worthy acts. The track stormed into the UK top 5 and was #1 in the airplay charts for four weeks running. With its undeniable dance hooks, “Cake By The Ocean” has shown no signs of slowing down. To date, overall streams exceed 220 million, while video views are over 91 million and counting.
In assembling DNCE, Jonas first rounded up some old friends from the road. Born and bred in South Korea, JinJoo met Jonas while playing lead guitar for Jordin Sparks—the opener of The Jonas Brothers’ 2009 world tour. A virtuoso in her own right, she’s toured with everybody from Charli XCX to CeeLo Green. DNCE drummer, Jack Lawless, stepped behind the kit for The Jonas Brothers in 2006 and went on to become their full-time drummer. He’s also toured with Night Terrors of 1927 and Soft Swells. Finally, there’s bassist and keyboardist, Cole Whittle, who co-founded New York alternative dance trailblazers, Semi Precious Weapons. Whittle and his band then spent two years straight on the road with Lady Gaga, later toured with Ke$ha, and broke up in late 2014.
DNCE are currently in the US as the opening act for multi-platinum singer and actress Selena Gomez on her 2016 ‘Revival’ Tour. The first chance to see the band perform in the UK will be on the 19th August at the O2 Islington Academy. The band will also be playing V Festival in August.
Tickets for the O2 Islington Academy show go on sale this Friday (20th May 2016) at 9am on www.gigsandtours.com
